For my fellow bookish folk here in NYC: Joseph O’Neill and Hari Kunzru will be reading at our cozy local pub Pacific Standard in Brooklyn tomorrow night, 7pm. There are also excellent poetry events lined up for this Thursday and next, the latter featuring Yusef Komunyakaa–I’ve had the pleasure of hearing him read his poetry before, and hope the impending term paper pileup won’t keep me from doing so again.
You see why it’s my favorite bar, even before the West Coast supremacism kicks in, no? I should make more use of my Frequent Drinkers’ Card book-borrowing privileges, too, since unlike the Brooklyn Public Library, they don’t issue overdue fines. Sigh.

You clearly know more about the bar I most frequent than I do — IT HAS A BLOG!! Wow. Unfortunately, the next few nights are packed with other artsy events but I hope to make it next week. Thanks for the info!

Dude, it’s a bar in Brooklyn run by lit geeks from the Bay Area. Of course they have a blog.
Reading was excellent. I have been far less frequent a drinker at PacStandard in recent months (compared to the glory days of last spring’s pub quiz season) but if they keep such literary temptations on the menu, I’ll revert to my old bad habits without shame.
